Tournament Overview:

Eligible species:
  • Blue Marlin 112" minimum length.
  • Video recorded billfish catch & release.
Entry Fee: $50,000

All-in tournament payout structure - no Optional Jackpots.

$5,000 deposit (10%) required to secure entry position. Tournament limited to first 30 boats to register/pay deposit.

Tournament Cash Awards (based upon 30 boats):
  1. First place: $1,000,000
  2. Second place: $145,000
  3. Third Place: $100,000
  4. Fourth Place: $75,000

Tournament Rules:

Boats may depart from any port in the Gulf of Mexico. Competition (lines in) begins at 1pm (Central time) Thursday August 6th.

Weigh-in at the Wharf Marina in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Boats with a blue marlin to weigh and/or video to be scored are required to check in at Sailboat Bay prior to 6pm on Saturday, August 8th.

Weigh-in hours:
  • Thursday evening 7pm (by prior reservation).
  • Friday evening 7pm (by prior reservation).
  • Saturday evening 5pm until last eligible boat in line.


Weighed blue marlin: Thursday - Friday, first fish weighed wins. On Saturday, earlier check in time at Sailboat Bay wins.

Catch & release video: First team to reach highest total points.

Tournament Scoring:

Weighed Blue Marlin 1 point per pound.

Catch & Release: Verified Blue Marlin 625 points, White Marlin/Sailfish/Unidentified 200 points.

1st place: the single heaviest eligible Blue Marlin weighed.

2nd - 4th place: combined Blue Marlin weighed points and Catch & Release verified points.

Note: Winning Blue Marlin points may not be combined with Team Catch & Release points towards 2nd - 4th place.

In the event no eligible Blue Marlin are weighed, the team with the highest verified catch and release video points will win.

Catch & Release Rules:

Only Billfish caught and released according to the following rules are eligible for tournament cash awards. Billfish are considered caught when the leader connection or swivel touches the tip of the rod or the mate or other team member touches the leader. Billfish removed from the water or boated will be disqualified.

GoPro or SD type video cameras are the preferred and recommended method of capturing catch and release video recording. If not recorded on a GoPro video camera the video must be captured on a digital video camera.

NOTE: No cell phone, iPad, or laptop video or times will be accepted.

Video must include:
  • Angler fighting fish including video of rod and reel.
  • Cockpit pan.
  • Tournament designator.
  • Video of swivel at rod tip or mate touching the leader.
  • Video of Billfish for species identification.
  • Video of release of Billfish.
  • Secondary cockpit pan.
  • Clear video of GPS date & time of release. Hold camera steady for several seconds to allow clear focus of GPS Date & Time. GPS must display in CDT.
  • NOTE: Review your video to confirm date AND time are clearly visible.

  • Winners will be polygraphed.

    IGFA rules apply. Rod may be handed off one time within the first minute of the fight.

    Release of Claims:

    Participants hereby release, forever discharge, and agree to hold harmless the Tournament Committee, Sponsors, The Wharf Entertainment Properties, LLC, Wharf Retail Properties, LLC, Coastal Marina Management, LLC, Wheels Up Events, LLC and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, volunteers, partners, members, the and/or attorneys for any and all losses, claims, or demands of any kind or character whatsoever arising from the negligence or gross negligence of the Releases or from any other cause connected with or occurring during the Tournament. The Participants expressly acknowledge that he/she has received, reviewed, and agrees to abide by the Tournament Rules and this Release. Furthermore, the Participants expressly acknowledge that activities relating to deep sea fishing are extremely dangerous and involve the risk of serious injury or death. Having so acknowledged, the Participants hereby assume full responsibility for the risk of bodily injury or death due to the negligence or gross negligence of the Releases or any other cause connected with or occurring during the Tournament.


    All disputes, protests, claims, differences or controversies relating to any aspect of the Tournament, including, without limitation, Tournament Rules, must be submitted to the Tournament Organizers/Rules Committee no later than 30 minutes following the closing of weigh-in on Saturday August 8th, 2020 or are deemed waived. All such disputes must be presented in writing along with a nonrefundable fee of $1,000 cash. All such disputes shall be decided by the Tournament Organizers/Rules Committee and shall be final and binding upon all parties.

    In the event the Tournament Organizers/Rules Committee cannot render or refuses to render a final and binding decision with respect to any dispute, protest, claim, difference, or controversy under review, the matter shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association. The decision rendered in arbitration shall be in writing and shall be final and binding upon all parties. The parties shall have no further recourse, except as provided for by the commercial rules of the American Arbitration Association. The Participants specifically waive any right to a trial by judge or jury. Arbitration shall be held exclusively in Bay County, Florida.
